PART 4 - WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY

PART 4 - WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY

After leaving the patch of grass, I head out east towards the bridge that leads to Rustboro City. Before that, however, I am challenged by a trainer, Rich Boy Winston. He sends out a Zigzagoon and I send out my newly captured Dustina. Clearly at a disadvantage, I switch out Dustina and send it Poochy. Poochy defeats the opponent's only Pokemon, and I receive P1400. Money is sure useful, as I will be looking to buy a lot of Potions in Rustboro.

I battle another trainer, who had a Lotad and a Shroomish. Dustina impressively defeated the two Pokemon, using Poison Sting to deal super effective damage to the grass type Pokemon.

On the bridge, two twins challenge me to a double battle. This is my first double battle so far, but I think I can take on the two girls.

They send out a Lotad and a Seedot, while I bring out Dustina and Poochy. It was a tough battle, but we managed to win in the end.

After the battle, my Dustina lay on the ground, motionless. She must have expended a lot of energy during the fight. I run over to her side, and I whisper to her, 'Hey, we won. Hang in there, I need you. The team needs you.' At that moment, Dustina started to glow...

Dustina evolved into a Cascoon! Yes! She is going to evolve into a Dustox soon!

Wanting to see how strong Dustina has become, I challenge a nearby Fisherman to a battle.

Ok, so I couldn't really tell how strong Dustina was, simply because the Fisherman sent out three Magikarp. Hahaaa.

I finally arrive in Rustboro City. Before looking around the city, I stop by the Poke Mart to stock up, and I heal my Pokemon at the Pokemon Center. I stop by the Pokemon Trainer's School, and the teacher was kind enough to give me a Quick Claw. Also, I receive HM01 - Cut from the Cutter's House! I'm getting free stuff left and right! I love Rustboro already!

I suddenly realize that my HM slave, Hyenapooch, fainted earlier so I have to release him right away. Looks like I have to catch another HM slave later...

I'm sure there will be MUCH MORE emotional goodbyes later on.

I stop by a house in Rustboro, and I see that there is a sick child named Walda who doesn't seem to laugh. Her father asks me if I know any funny words to cheer her up. Hmmmm...

Nothing. I can't seem to think of some funny words. The father gets mad at me for entering their home and wasting his time, and he unleashes his anger at Walda instead.

Well that escalated quickly.

I leave the house IMMEDIATELY, not wanting to add fuel to the fire.

Wanting to forget about the incident, I head straight for the Rustboro Gym.

My game plan for this gym is to use Tricca and only Tricca. I hope that her grass type moves will prove effective against rock and ground type Pokemon like Geodude and Onix.

*On a side note, my personal rules regarding gyms will be: 1. I can't leave the gym after I enter, meaning that I won't be able to heal at the Pokemon Center before facing the Gym leader, and 2. NO SAVING!*

As I look at my party, I realize that I have two grass type Pokemon and a bug type. Seeing that half of my party is filled by these three, I decide that I will stop training Spots for now.

I make quick work of the three gym trainers, facing nothing but Geodudes throughout.

Time to face Roxanne, the Gym Leader.

The first Pokemon she sends out is Geodude.

Bullet Seed. Done.

Geodude next.

Bullet Seed. Done.

Finally, Nosepass.

Bullet Seed. Done. I lie.

Nosepass actually survives 5 hits from Bullet Seed, but Tricca finishes him off with two more Bullet Seeds and an Absorb.

Roxanne thanks me for a wonderful battle, and hands me the Stone Badge.

This is where I say, 'I got... the Stone Badge!' and I hold up the Stone Badge to the camera as Tricca jumps and holds that pose for a few seconds... Speaking of which, it seems like Ash actually aged in the preview of the Pokemon X and Y anime. Who knows?

Well that's it for now.

(In the anime narrator voice). As our hero emerges victorious at the Rustboro gym, Green and friends look forward to the many adventures that await them. What could they be? Stay tuned to find out...
